By far the best natural park in KW with approximately 5 to 10 km of walking or biking trails going thru forest and over ponds. It also has a children play area, washroom and outdoor interpretive panels. My favourite time to be here is n the fall.
My wife and I really enjoy bringing our young son here. Lots of nice nature paths to walk and let him ride his bike. There is a kids play area with a water pump and sand pit to keep the little ones entertained. Lots of street parking if the lot is busy-full. Good for stress relief and getting some fresh air year round.
Fantastic network of trails (some paved, some gravel, some natural).Good for walking and bicycle.Well planned and maintained by the C of K. You could easily spend the day here doing the trails, having a picnic lunch at the covered rest area and letting the smaller hikers play in the natural wood-structure playground.
Love this park so much; it provides a peaceful escape from the bustling city. There are many trails to explore and plenty of variations in landscape from the wetlands, to wooded areas, and clearings. We often see frogs and turtles in the ponds, birds, chipmunks, and squirrels. In the evenings, you'll hear hundreds of frogs singing in the ponds and streams. It's a great place to go to clear your head, or spend some quality time with loved ones and friends. There's a natural park area for the kids too, and plenty of parking and events throughout the year!
I visited this park for the first time yesterday and I absolutely loved it. The trails are plentiful, well marked, and well maintained. I do photography for a hobby, focusing ;) on insects and small creatures, and this was a treasure trove of subjects from dragonflies to frogs to bees to butterflies. All plentiful. There is no agent on duty at the park but there are washrooms at the entrance, which are open from 9:00 a.m. to dusk. I was disappointed to see litter strewn around the washroom area (where there are picnic tables) when a trash can sat less than 10 yards away. Come on, people! To sum up: If you love nature, you will love Huron Natural Area.
